Sprung Services, Inc. Utility Maintenance Lead in United States

Job Summary:

Directs and assists the shift utilities maintenance crew, performs routine and break down maintenance on utility equipment, and is responsible for keeping the utility equipment running and in compliance with all rules and regulations by using safe methods of equipment repair/upkeep. The maintenance lead performs repairs as needed by the department, troubleshoots processes, manages, and administers the preventive maintenance program and assists with machine set ups and rebuilds as needed. Oversees the monitoring of the heating, cooling, compression, and water systems within the plant and upkeep of plant facilities while following safety and environment regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain regulatory records regarding utility maintenance issues as well as wastewater treatment plant permits.

  • Perform daily Utility operation and maintain related equipment.

  • Oversee training of Utility and maintenance employees to ensure maintenance and Utility staff understand all functions of work practices and procedures.

  • Propose training for utility team and attend required training as needed and instructed by management.

  • Monitor and maintain all repairs, supplies, as well as tools and equipment to ensure the efficiency and functionality of the Utility equipment.

  • Monitor boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, and PH of the sewer system.

  • Document and read meters (gas, sewer, electric and water) to ensure accurate reporting to agencies.

  • Complete daily, weekly monthly, quarterly, and annually inspections of the facility and of various equipment

  • Notify the maintenance department when repairs are needed; may assist in the repair work as required.

  • Document and upkeep all necessary records/paperwork to ensure legal and regulatory obligations to MET Council and MPCA

  • Perform annual cleaning and inspection of all utility equipment & systems.

  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.

  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 4 to 6 years of experience or 4+ years of experience with demonstrated leadership attributes.

  • Chief B boiler engineer License (will consider MN 1st Class B candidates).

  • Engineering degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and requirements

  • Knowledge of PSM/RMP

  • Knowledge Ammonia systems and requirements

  • Knowledge of plant operations [or business function specific to the job description

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations regarding waste, air, wastewater, land application, and storm water

  • Skilled in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards.

  • Skilled in developing safety procedures and protocols.

  • Skilled in analytical thinking and problem solving.

  • Able to problem solve, multi-task and prioritize own work activities.

  • Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
