The Office of Scholars Programs (OSP) is looking for a full-time doctoral student in the College of Education to 20 hours per week as a graduate assistant (GA) in the Office of Scholars Programs. The GA will report to the director of OSP and support overall administrative management communication, programming, academic coaching, and resource referral for students in four scholars programs: Bunton-Waller Fellows/Merits, Lenfest, Maguire, and Milton Hershey Scholars. The GA will also share administrative support responsibilities with other full-time graduate assistants in OSP. Successful candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills, critical decision-making and multitasking skills, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and principles in all its forms. A positive record of working with diverse undergraduate student groups, college student development theory, academic counseling/academic advising, and demonstrated knowledge/practice in diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and human rights is preferred.

  • Provide ongoing academic support and appropriate referrals for the Bunton-Waller Fellows/Merits, Lenfest, Maguire, and Milton Hershey Scholars programs through individual meetings and program opportunities.

  • Assist and facilitate academic year early move-in, summer orientation activities, events (i.e. Scholars Orientation, Welcome Reception, End of Year Celebration, NSO, etc), and programming.

  • Plan and facilitate monthly meetings for scholars to foster community connections, academic support, and engagement opportunities.

  • Provide logistical, administrative, and facilitation for the Scholarship and Community seminar.

  • Create monthly bulletin boards and bi-weekly social media content through the academic year.

  • Assist with academic mid-year evaluation early warnings and communicate with students to support, develop, and implement a plan-of-action for academic success.

  • Assist in facilitation of all-student monthly group meetings.

  • Develop and recommend undergraduate student retention strategies and activities to the Director of OSP.

  • Review student academic performances and provide follow-up with the Director of OSP and the college multicultural directors/leadership.

  • Assist with maintaining student academic records and communications during mid-year report and end of year report processes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
