Amazon Japan seeks for an outstanding Packaging and Process Engineer to join the JCFS (Japan Customer Fulfillment Solutions) CPEX (Customer Packaging Experience) team based in Tokyo, Japan.

In JCFS CPEX, you will be responsible for the creation of sustainable package development, process design and transformation at fulfillment centers (FCs) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for sustainable material deployment with Amazon Japan and APAC Leadership team to achieve our 2040 Sustainability goals.

As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you will drive the day-to-day program execution and monitor metrics that measure success in a collaboration with Fulfillment Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Robotics, and Data Science teams. Also, you need to have a passion of innovating our packaging to delighting customer though navigating ambiguity, and solving problems with partners using excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills. A proven track record of working in a cross-functional environments and delivering results are important qualifications.

As one of CPEX’s initiatives for sustainable material development and deployment, CPEX is accelerating to reduce the amount of plastic from outer packaging and sub materials such as dunnage and shipping labels, and to replacement to paper materials to achieve our 2040 sustainability goals.

Key job responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• You will closely work with each department to create and deploy standardized operations across Japan FCs with sustainable package design. Also, develop program proposal for leadership, and design metrics that measure progress and success of sustainable material deployment programs.

• You will lead programs to advance sustainable material deployment initiative and engage relevant stakeholders from Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance, and Retail teams.

• You will review the program progress and provide clear and timely reporting of key performance metrics across internal and external stakeholders.

• You need to communicate and report to packaging and sustainability team in Japan and other Amazon regions such as NA, EU, India, and other emerging markets.

・リードするプログラムの進捗状況を確認し、社内外のステークホルダーに対して求められるパフォーマンス指標を明確かつタイムリーに報告します。

・日本およびアメリカ、ヨーロッパ、インド、その他新興地域のアマゾンパッケージングおよびサステナビリティチームとコミュニケーションし、報告する必要があります。

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience

• Experience working with and managing third party vendors

• Experience communicating results to senior leadership

• Fluent in Japanese N1 or N2 level and advanced level in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a passion for working with members with diverse backgrounds

• Knowledge of automated material handling systems and packaging technologies.
