This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

We are seeking an experienced leader in Operational Strategy, Communications, and Program Management to shepherd the Insurance Operations strategies in service of New York Life Direct. You will serve as an advisor to the senior leadership team in support of business strategies, and internal & external partners and the AARP client in support key growth initiatives.

As a key member of the team, you are accountable for provide strategic leadership and value in the creation and vision of strategies that drive operational goals. Support leaders in making decisions impacting the use of metrics and technology to drive optimal business decisions. Partners with executives to develop communication and talent management strategies to drive our culture from engaging employees to supporting learning and development opportunities that advocate for all the ways that New York Life strives to create a diverse and inclusive community.

Proficient in evaluating operational needs to streamline processes and identify opportunities for improvements. Facilitates stimulating strategic and innovative thinking. Fosters partnerships across multi-functional business areas to develop and manage strategic planning, governance practices, and coordinates programs on an enterprise level. Effective verbal and written communication are critical. Keen interest and passion for service operations. Accountable for the performance and results of a team of business subject matter experts that specialize in program management and strategy analysts that drive delivery of strategic initiatives.

STRATEGY, GOVERNANCE, & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Develops operational strategies, governance, and workshops to support business needs.

  • Builds business cases to drive continuous improvements to drive operational efficiency leveraging both design and emerging technologies.

  • Accountable for managing a team of professionals that execute on strategic initiatives through program management and agile best practices for Insurance Operations.

  • Proficient at balancing multiple tasks and projects; Provides support to functional area projects.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to set a vision and roadmap to our leadership team and stakeholders.

  • Helps build holistic communications plans by working closely with cross functional and enterprise strategists; Manages governance, communications, and cross-department collaboration forums.

COMMUNICATIONS & CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Develop Insurance Operations strategic communication plans in service of our leadership and employees;Develops and manages communication plans for senior leaders.

  • Lead as a champion of change and facilitate change management processes to drive cultural shifts.

  • Communicates complex ideas; persuades and negotiates with others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.

  • Accountable for developing professionals to present and effectively articulate findings, recommendations, and conversely communicate/translate project challenges, solutions, and implications to senior leadership teams.

  • Lead governance, service strategy, annual planning, intranet communication, department meetings, Manager’s meetings and/or more informal network opportunities.

  • Serve as a liaison between Insurance Operations and other parts of Direct and New York Life; represent the service organization in cross-department initiatives.

  • Understands service operations goals to drive a cultural shift, efficiencies, and growth through our strategic initiatives.

  • Proficient in program management professional skills, developing operational strategies and talent management strategies that support broad business goals and support our workforce.

  • Learns about external factors that impact our operations, partners, customers, and our people.

  • Broad understanding of Life Insurance and the AARP Life Insurance Program from New York Life.

TECHNICAL

  • Develop key business indicators to inform important decisions and develop strategies.

  • Solid business and financial acumen to develop and manage strategic initiative budgets.

  • Leads large scale strategic initiatives with cross-functional business impacts.

  • Requires conceptual and innovative thinking and education and/or equivalent experience to develop solutions.
