Summary/Objectives:The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, design, evaluation, and improvement of production quality, processes and controls in a manufacturing environment. The position will maintain quality of products through collection and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine standards, quality measures, and reliability expectancy. The position will ensure team objectives are aligned to the companys strategic goals and business objectives. The position is also responsible for ensuring all products meet internal/external safety and quality requirements.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Develops, applies and maintains quality requirements and standards for the development and manufacturing of products
Designs, documents, and implements methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection in order to improve work methods, tooling procedures, and product reliability
Analyzes statistical data to identify and resolve manufacturing quality issues; leads failure analysis efforts for customer and internal failures as needed
Develops, analyzes, and reports on quality measures including quality issues, trends and losses
Develops scanning programs on the Browne and Sharpe CMM for identified products
Performs R&R gauge studies; formulates inspection plans in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering for new and existing products
Works closely with supplier and customer quality representatives to bring quality assurance problems to complete resolution through effective corrective action identification and implementation
Communicates with customers regarding technical problems and issues in a timely and effective manner
Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates transactional data and the accuracy of business transactions in accordance with company procedures and contracts
Maintains all quality records and documentation in support of and in accordance with the Quality Manual and specific customer requirements
Follows all environmental, health and safety policies and reports all concerns to management in a timely and effective manner
Trains and mentors others to achieve performance metrics
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum requirements:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize and manage ones own time effectively
Ability to maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
Ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams
Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
Preferred requirements:
Strong knowledge of ISO standards and other Quality and Productivity Tools
Ability to apply ISO 9000 quality policies and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of engineering standards
Knowledge of and/or exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles
Able to read and understand technical blueprints
Preferred Experience and Education:
Bachelors Degree or 5 years related work experience OR Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology or related discipline
