MMI Engineered Solutions Plastic Process Technician Apprentice in Saline, Michigan

Our four-year DOL (Department of Labor)-approved apprenticeship is a paid on-the-job program that will take you through a progressive technical career while attending college. This program will provide you with the benefit of a varied learning environment that promotes hands-on learning. Your first step will be to start as a press operator for six months, understanding the ins and outs of the different presses and parts that we run on a daily basis. Followed by a material technician for 12 months, learning about all the different resins, temperatures, planning for up-coming jobs, etc. From there, you will move to the third stage as a mold setter for one year and a half, supporting current mold setters to set up new jobs from many other duties. In your final year of apprenticeship, you will join our experienced Plastic Process Technician for one-on-one training on how to establish standards, develop process sheets for mold tooling, configure and setup production molds while processing new and existing production runs, and more.

Qualifications

  • High School / GED
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) / Level 5 to 6
  • Capable of effective and cooperative interaction with employees and contractors at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to be flexible with work schedules and work overtime and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced organization handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to pass background check and drug screen.
