Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is with Linear Motion, LLC (Thomson Aerospace and Defense) in Saginaw, MI. Linear Motion, LLC designs, manufactures and supports critical systems and components for commercial and military aircraft as well as for industrial applications. The product range includes ball screws, mechanical sub-systems, and electro-mechanical actuators. The Manufacturing Supervisor will be a leader in implementing lean manufacturing techniques and principles in order to maximize manufacturing potential. The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for directing employees and executing production work to meet customer requirements and deadlines, as well as utilize problem solving methods to identify root cause and implement meaningful and effective corrective measures. This position is highly visible to all levels of the company and has great potential for growth for making improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.

Requirements

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and develops production employees

  • Effectively continuously communicates with associates

  • Performs formal annual performance appraisals and skills assessments

  • Administers the work rules and collective bargaining agreement in a fair and efficient manner

  • Monitors quality and quality of work, auditing required paperwork and documentation

  • Leads and communicates continuous improvement in manufacturing methods and quality, interfacing with all levels in the organization and implements lean manufacturing techniques and tools

  • Troubleshoots Machining and Assembly issues utilizing internal resources

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization following the collective bargaining agreement

  • Executes production work to meet customer requirements

  • Works and Communicates with the Day shift supervisors setting day to day and long term expectations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years manufacturing supervisory experience

  • Must be able to work afternoon shift, including some weekends

  • Enterprise Resource Planning and Microsoft Excel

  • Due to ITAR regulations, must be a U.S. Person

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSME or business-related degree

  • CNC programming and machining, precision grinding, heat treat, and assembly operations

  • Unionized environment supervisory experience

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification

Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, set-up sheets, travelers, procedure manuals, and government regulations.

Possess a strong geometric/trigonometric mathematical understanding.

Computer Skills:

Must be able to use the computer and computer software as required by the job. Must be proficient in MS Office applications. Basic understanding of code (VBA, C#, C++, etc.) is preferred.

This position is in a standard manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The noise levels are frequently moderate to loud. Safety glasses and safety shoes (steel-toed) are required throughout the shop floor. Hearing protection is recommended in certain areas... Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
