Viability Education/Employment Specialist 3 in Ronkonkoma, New York

* $500 sign on bonus ($250 at the completion of first week of training and $250 after successful completion of first 90 days)*

Position: Education/Employment Specialist 3 - Full-Time

Location: Ronkonkoma, NY

Rate of Pay: $21.38 per hour; plus $40 bi-weekly stipend for second language

Hours: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Summary:

  • Become part of a dynamic team working with High School students and adults ages 14 and older using a work-based training curriculum. You will facilitate a prescribed program that includes assessments, classroom instruction, development of employment plans, assessing their interests in employment and education, placement in jobs and internships, and on-site job training and support. You will develop relationships between clients and community employers, providing access to an array of employment, job training, and educational opportunities. Responsible for the coordination of internship opportunities, including working evaluation sites, marketing, job development, internship procurement. Additional responsibilities include vocational guidance, job development, job placement, onsite/remote training, employer education, and customer relations.

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED/Hi-Set with 2 years of related experience; or Associates degree in human services or relative field.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required

  • Ability to use computers to include Microsoft Word, data entry, email, and internet essential.

  • Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, use of vehicle and willingness to transport participants in personal vehicle.

  • Must be able to travel within the region to access residential settings, employers, offices, and community organizations.
