University of Rochester Physician Support Rep III in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as the physician support specialist, and OR scheduler. Communicates regularly with patients, families, clinical and non-clinical staff, identifying barriers to appointment compliance, insurance company barriers and tracking all assistance provided. Accountable for planning, execution, appeals, and efficient follow-through on all aspects of the process which has direct, multi-faceted impact (quality, financial, patients satisfactions, etc.) on patient scheduling, treatment, care, and follow up.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Design and maintain confidential, comprehensive patient information as an organizational resource tool and to manage reporting.

  • Maintain OR schedule focusing on high utilization rate throughout GCH and Sawgrass surgical centers.

  • Communicates treatment information to Billing personnel for timely submission of pretreatment estimates and insurance approvals. Acts as a resource to patients and care providers of Medicaid approval process and other 3 rd party billing issues.

  • Dental pre-treatment estimates, explains dental co-payment with parents. Document patient account for required paperwork and payment postings.

  • Collaborates with all members of the dental care team to facilitate superior communication with the patient for best treatment outcomes.

  • Maintains good working relationship with other Dentistry care providers, Billing and front line staff in order to coordinate referrals and other treatments relevant to the patient’s overall dental treatment plan.

  • Medical pre-certifications from insurance companies by direct calls and OR primary care providers making mental note of policy changes and procedures regularly.

  • Acts as surgical support team member in obtaining hospital informed consent and foster and guardianship cases from DSS commissioners and service coordinators.

  • Responsible for Insurance Preauthorization – Initiates insurance referral, verification, and/or service authorization in advance of treatment through review of dental insurance benefits and requirements.

  • Performs other duties for supervisor as directed including working on special projects and working with other support staff on special projects. Monitors accurate time reporting procedures.

  • Provides input to clinical supervisor/administrator to improve the treatment planning process and other related patient care activities.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in business field preferred

  • Three years of dental or medical office experience preferred

  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience required

  • Dental Experience preferred

  • Strong customer service skills (via telephone and in person) required

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally required.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment required.

  • Ability to work with a diverse patient and provider population.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 18.89 - $ 25.51 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
