Lipton is Unilever’s largest brand in turnover and global presence and is a key component in PepsiCo’s beverage portfolio. Lipton is a truly global brand and operates in two distinct areas; leaf tea and Ready to Drink Tea (RTDT). The RTDT team operates as a separate entity to Unilever and PepsiCo as part of a joint venture organization. The RTDT portfolio includes the core Brands of Lipton Ice Tea, Pure Leaf, and Brisk as well as the recent acquisitions of PUKKA and TAZO with the portfolio changing as the business moves into exciting new areas.

It is a Joint Venture between Unilever and PepsiCo to manufacture and sell RTDT, and operates across the globe. As a company in its own right, the joint venture has its own board of directors. Whilst in constant contact with its parent companies, it runs as a separate entity on a day to day basis.

The Technical Contact Manager works in close partnership with bottling companies who produce the final product for PLNA. As production of some of the Lipton Ice Tea product is done by third party companies, it is imperative that the quality of the factories in which they operate meet the exacting standards required by Pepsi Lipton. The role of the TCM is to ensure that all manufacturing processes and facilities meet the expected standards.
Approve all manufacturing facilities
Define manufacturing standards and issue all product / process documentation
Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support
Support innovation implementation
Conduct annual technical visits
Provide training as appropriate – internal/external Quality Training for the Bottler Network
Be the local contact / liaise with the bottler
Provide project engineering updates after consultation with bottler
Conduit for process/ raw material / packaging material changes
Consolidate consumer complaints
Conduct routine quality compliance checks
Monitor bottler quality performance
Ensure audit follow up/ CAP tracking
Protect Lipton Brand through application of due diligence in all new launches
Ensure compliance of materials and specifications within Pepsi Lipton safety requirements
Provide relevant technical and SC knowledge and expertise to help drive PL business and innovation implementation
Implement common global Lipton QA standards across all business
Define manufacturing strategy and provide leadership to the business.
Apply Best Practice manufacturing standards in line with Lipton GMP’s
Be custodian of the PL TRM
Consumer / Customer focus
Professional networking/external focus especially dealing with 3rd party suppliers
Design, deploy role experience in Beverages especially RTD are all relevant/desirable.
Academic background: technologist, chemical, process, engineering/ Science
Has a passion for the Lipton brand and to grow the RTD business
