Emerson Wind Turbine Controls Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

You will be joining an exciting new renewables group responsible for project execution mainly in the North American power industry. In this position, you will lead the application design and engineering of renewables projects. The successful candidate will be a crucial part of the Renewable Projects group with responsibilities mainly in the North American power industry.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead wind turbine control system application design and engineering execution on North America projects

  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of the following wind turbine control components

  • Wind Turbine Controller

  • Blade pitch system

  • Power converter system

  • Interface to wind turbine sensors

  • Park network and architecture

  • SCADA interface

  • Overall park and plant control

  • Provide cross department technical support for new project pursuits and product development

  • Mentor less expert engineers on wind turbine application design and commissioning

  • Prepare and maintain engineering plans and schedules

  • Support site commissioning and Site Acceptance Test

Who You Are:

You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks. You create teamwork allowing others across the organization to achieve shared objectives. You establish and maintain effective customer relationships.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2+ years of related experience in wind turbine controls applications

  • GWO Certified or equivalent

  • Physically able to climb wind turbine of 80+ meters without assistance

  • Willing to travel 60% of the time

  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous client facing experience

  • Previous experience with Emerson’s Ovation software and hardware products
