MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Eight (8) years of experience in transportation engineering. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as an engineer with lead responsibility for complex transportation engineering projects in bridge design, drainage, electrical, foundations, traffic, facilities design, highway design, research, utilities or hydraulics. For state employees this is interpreted at the level of Transportation Engineer 3 (ENGINEERING). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Possession of an engineering degree in a position-relevant area such as Civil Engineering Experience managing and developing complex highway design projects including management of project scope, schedules, budgets, document control, quality control, and risk management Experience leading, mentoring, evaluating and developing improved performance of highway design staff Experience managing consultant engineers in the development and delivery of highway design projects Experience coordinating effectively with other Department units, consultants, towns, state and federal agencies Experience with verbal and written communication and presenting complex information to diverse populations including officials, peers, members of the public and small and large groups Experience leading people and managing tasks, including influencing staff in higher level positions, to achieve common goals Experience with relevant federal, state, agency and bureau manuals, policies, procedures and design practices Experience using Office365, Microsoft Project, CTDOT’s Compass, Bluebeam and other discipline-related applications and modeling software SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Incumbents must possess Professional Engineer (PE) licensure from the Department of Consumer Protection State Board of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors consistent with C.G.S.§20-302. 2.
