Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Mescalero Agency, Branch of Social Services, in Mescalero, New Mexico. The incumbent manages, supervises, and directs the staff performing day-to-day professional and operational social work functions and activities. NOTE: The pay flexibilities of a student loan repayment benefit may be authorized pending the availability of funds and management approval. Responsibilities Responsible for the administration, development, execution, and evaluation of the entire Social Services program. Provides professional level direction for family centered casework to assist in adjustments of family members toward one another, and in their relationship outside of the home. Prepares annual program budgets, revising as appropriate in order to conform to program activities, needs, and budgetary constraints. Maintains case records reflecting decisions on applications and narration of services provided. Responsible for coordination and consultation with agencies at tribal local, county, state, and national level for purpose of developing and provision of social services to the Agency. Assess the social needs of the reservation, when it is found that these needs remain unmet, develops or creates programs or locates resources to meet these needs. BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR ALL GRADES: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the MASTER'S DEGREE in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement, applicants must have the following: GS-12: Qualifying is one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include work involving applying practical knowledge in a wide range of social services casework, family therapy, systems theory and community organization; direct provision of child welfare services; maintaining active agency participation in the varied advocacy and intervention programs and the coordination of and required cooperation with allied social service, health and other agencies; providing counseling services; developing and maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of services with individual case plans; developing and maintaining of Individual Indian Monies (IIM) accounts; providing technical assistance on all aspects of social services programs and activities; developing and supporting program budget matters.
