Under the general direction of the Division

Administrator, and Financial Affairs Manager and other Department leaders and in concert with other research

administrative staff, you will be responsible for all phases of pre- and

post-award administration for intra/extramurally funded research awards for

Departmental Principal Investigators. In this role, you will analyze problems/issue

of diverse scope and determine solutions and work on complex proposals such as

grants/contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub awards.

Problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without

precedent and/or structure. You may manage programs that include

formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and

resources. Use advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage high

volume and high complexity transactions. May review and guide others in

the review of financial and administrative management requirements of research

contract and grant proposals, awards, and/or transactions to ensure compliance

with institutional and sponsor policies. Work independently to assess

complex grant, contract and subcontract transactions where analysis requires an

in-depth evaluation of variable factors. May serve as technical specialist

in a particular area, such as federal contracts, state contracts, subcontracts

or information systems. Lead activities around the organization, planning,

establishment and monitoring of fiscal budget control of contracts and grants

administration, submissions, budgets, support documents, gifts, endowments, and

privately funded projects for faculty research programs. Provide highly complex

projections, analysis and recommendations.

Monthly Salary Range: $6,566.67 - $14,583.33

Qualifications

Required:

  • 1-3 years of Complex Research Administration portfolio

  • 3-5 years of Research Administration experience

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information in a timely, professional manner and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, external collaborators, and administration and to work as a member of a team.

  • Ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions, to meet the programmatic and financial needs of PIs and the department, while complying with university and funding agency policies and regulations.

  • Analytical skills to assess financial information, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations, and initiate corrective actions

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft suite software, especially Excel, to perform daily tasks efficiently and accurately

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques

  • Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements

  • Full knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Code of Federal Regulations, sponsor-specific policies, intellectual property policy, conflict of interest requirements, publication rights, application of indirect cost rates and other complex concepts in research administration.

  • Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
