Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the manufacturing industry, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The position involves the role of an Accounting Clerk, where the primary job function will be to manage customer credit applications and maintain accurate records while ensuring efficient processing.

Responsibilities:

• Set up jobs including task/phase codes, estimated cost, and tax status.

• Process complex customer billings and send out customer invoices promptly.

• Review and fulfill customer billing requirements as per the contract.

• Understand and manage job contracts and their accounting.

• Handle Change Order management effectively.

• Create and maintain subcontracts and purchase orders.

• Coordinate with customers and vendors on contract documentation: including tax documents, purchase orders, and general information.

• Audit Accounts Receivable billings for completion and accuracy.

• Manage purchase order receiving and payroll time entry.

• Update and maintain weekly job cost reports.

• Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, and forward calls, providing information, taking messages, and scheduling appointments.

• Provide project administration support for assigned project managers.

• Monitor assigned receivables and follow up with customers for timely payments.

• Ensure past due collection calls are completed.

• Assist in month-end closing.

• Responsible for document imaging for assigned jobs.

• Protect the department and the organization’s values by keeping data confidential.

• Monitor and analyze department work and procedures to develop more efficient protocols and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

• Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Office XP.

• Ability to effectively use accounting software.

• Proficient use of computer and phone system. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Office XP is required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles

• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Excellent data entry skills along with a knack for numbers

• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software

• Proficiency in English and in Microsoft Office

• Customer service orientation and negotiation skills

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
