Our Johnson City, TN location is looking for someone to join our team as the Maintenance / Facilities Supervisor.

Scope

The Maintenance / Facilities Supervisor directs the activities of all Maintenance Technicians. He/she supervises and provides tool room / maintenance support to assist in developing and implementing manufacturing methods and processes used in the production operation, maintaining a high degree of quality and ensuring on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzes equipment failures for root causes, develops corrective actions, and supervises and assists in repair activities.

  • Troubleshoot programs, facility mechanical systems, production tooling, and equipment to determine the cause of problems.

  • Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs. Review, maintain, and update preventive maintenance records on a daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of production equipment and procedures.

  • Interprets plans, prioritizes work orders, and schedules associates’ activities.

  • Investigates, establishes, and implements equipment, tooling, materials and manufacturing methods requirements.

  • Maintains inventory levels for critical spare tools for the manufacturing equipment.

  • Works with quality to validate production processes and train personnel to operate equipment and processes.

  • Assist in developing layouts, equipment, tooling, and machine tool acquisitions to support efficient manufacturing.

  • Assist in the design, installation/construction, and commissioning of new productions equipment, tooling, and process units; monitoring development (ie modifications and upgrades); and all within the boundary constraints of cost and time.

  • Responsible for staff training, goal setting, development, overall performance, and engagement.

  • Tool and die development and maintenance.

  • Promote continuous improvement in productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and departmental performance measures, including equipment downtime, work order completion, equipment reliability, and process capabilities.

  • Submit equipment capital requests with cost justification.

  • Liaison with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs and process changes to provide technical expertise and support to operations.

  • Depending on the needs of the company, the employee may be entrusted with and asked to perform other tasks related to his/her competence.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent work and education experience.

Years and Type of Experience

  • 5-7 years’ experience in machine tooling / maintenance preferably in a manufacturing setting.

  • Previous experience in leading, managing or supervising people a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA regulations.

  • Knowledge of ISO-9000 requirements a plus.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical equipment, machine shop operations, and testing equipment.

  • Knowledge of equipment and tool design technologies, PM systems, and methodologies.

  • Ability to understand and interpret production drawings, blueprints, specifications, and service contracts.

  • Strong leadership skills.
