Background & Purpose of the Job

The Processing Operator is responsible for the safe operation of processing equipment to deliver quality product through completion of the mix plan, adhering to SQOC.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

She/he is expected to carry out cleaning and inspection activities and record any issues/problems with the equipment to pass to the Technical Operator to resolve. The Process Operator should master the operation of all aspects of the mix department in order to provide resiliency to department.

Operational Activities:

  • Ensures compliance of all safety and GMP procedures in processing area

  • Abide by all plant Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and actively participate in safety activities

  • Consistently demonstrate safe work behaviors and actively support company safety goals

  • Support all WCM initiatives and actively participate in all WCM processes and activities

  • Ensure zero energy state and LOTO of equipment prior to working on it

  • Set up batch sheets, set up batches, batch and pasteurize mixes.

  • Understand and be able to perform, batch set-up, batching, pasteurization, CIPs and receiving of bulk ingredients

  • Assist in diagnostics, repairs, & rebuilds/PMs of equipment as well as conducting cleaning and CIPs

  • Understand properties of materials being handled and perform correct adjustments and settings

  • Reduce costs of waste by utilizing rework

  • Monitors quality against set standards and reports any defects. Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes emergency action to prevent them

  • Safely operate forklift

  • Varying temperatures and a warm, wet environment

  • Chemical use and handling

  • Lifting up to 60 pounds; position will require individuals to lift an average of 30-50 boxes per hour, weighing up to 60 pounds

  • Occasional pushing/pulling up to 80 pounds

  • Must be available to work overtime, extended shifts and alternate schedules

  • Required to wear company-furnished safety equipment and uniform

  • Work in loud environments while utilizing proper safety equipment

  • Working at heights above 4 feet

  • Standing for extended periods of time

  • Repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling Follow

  • Unilever quality standards to include GMPs which include personal health and hygiene,

  • HACCP, allergen control, foreign material control, and product integrity

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Continuous Improvement – knowledge and understanding of the key principles of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and an awareness of the tools used to identify and prioritize losses

Problem Solving – A working knowledge of how to identify, prioritize, and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence

Decision Making – Can make decisions to reject non-compliant products and to support the work plan for the day

Teamwork – Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive and able to communicate effectively

Administration – Conducts effective hand-over activities and records paperwork accurately.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
