We are seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to manage and inspire multiple systems engineering and integration engineering teams as they integrate and support legal and privacy systems in the NBCUniversal architecture. In this role, you will be responsible for helping develop geographically distributed teams that build and operate the applications. Your technical expertise will inform your mentoring, guidance, and skills development of your teams of engineers. Your ability to manage labor and budgets and provide detailed and accurate estimation is highly desired.
Responsibilities:
Create an exceptional engineering culture that retains our engineering capabilities and own our innovation
Create and execute staffing plan, making appropriate talent shifts where needed
Develop and refine skills, create new opportunities, share knowledge, help others, and attract/retain the best engineering talent globally
Manage the teams and their performance with honest feedback, recurring 1:1’s, performance reviews, goal setting, and coaching
Respond and react to employee survey results
Build communities and foster communication
Create transparency around organizational roles and responsibilities
Promote automation and consistency in the entire engineering lifecycle
Modernize the legal technology landscape through successful integration of SaaS and COTS applications into a singular legal technology architecture and ensure consistent and complete privacy consent management (CMP) implementation across all business areas, brands, and content delivery vehicles (web, mobile, CTV)
Coordinate closely with the software engineering teams and product management teams to ensure a singular vision of the product architecture is maintained
Lead the teams to provide the infrastructure and platform services needed for legal system integration and operations
Lead the teams to provide the infrastructure and platform services needed for privacy CMP system development, integration, and operations
Ensure the systems and platforms are integrated as needed, perform flawlessly, and are secure-by-design
Create alignment and consolidation across multiple lines of business
Provide site reliability engineering resources and processes to support the integrated systems
Create transparency by establishing metrics to communicate status and progress towards goals
Leverage OKRs, PI Planning, and Agile methodologies to organize and execute
Understand TCOs and value metrics for applications and platforms - “well operated framework.”
Define and implement metrics that matter; development, value-based, and operational
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering or equivalent work experience
6+ years of professional software development and/or integration engineering experience
2+ years in an engineering leadership role responsible for technology and engineering decisions
Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
Experience in integrating and managing legal applications and systems
Experience in integrating and managing privacy content management platform (CMP) applications and systems
Strong skills in engineering team leadership and building positive relationship with business partners
Experience with leading projects in highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary development teams
Excellent planning and organizational skills, problem-solving, communication, presentation, analytical, leadership, negotiation, relationship building, accuracy and detail orientation skills.
Excellent change management skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Track record of inspiring others & positive change in solution design, technical delivery, and process improvement
Experience in integrating large-scale SaaS and COTS applications into a secure corporate environment, including data migrations
Experience in cyber security and/or privacy by design
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop global applications organization in collaboration with overall technology strategy
Current on business applications, trends in technology and experience evaluating/implementing new innovative technology solutions
Passion for learning new technologies, patterns, and practices
Desired Characteristics:
Experience in providing operational support through the use of site reliability engineering
Demonstrated strength in contract negotiations, vendor management, and capacity planning in a fast growth environment
Product ownership mindset with a history of successful product planning and delivery
