Robert Half Credit/ Collections Supervisor/Manager in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

Description

Robert Half is seeking a Credit/Collections Specialist for a 6-month contract opportunity with an established organization in the distribution industry. This position will be based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and will require availability to work onsite. This role involves overseeing credit applications, collections, as well as reconciling cash applications and managing bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the collections of outstanding accounts receivable dollars from the existing client base and all other aspects of collections, resolving customer billing problems and reducing accounts receivable delinquency.

  • Review and monitor client accounts on a regular basis to ensure compliance with terms and to assess creditworthiness.

  • Initiate and negotiate payment plans with businesses that have outstanding bills.

  • Conduct credit checks on new clients and manage credit applications.

  • Work closely with customers, sales teams, and senior management to resolve discrepancies and queries on outstanding invoices.

  • Maintain accurate records and report on collection activity and accounts receivable status.

  • Implement and enforce payment terms with clients to ensure timely receivables.

  • Assist in the setting up of the credit control system and in the development of policies and procedures related to credit and collections.

  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues in a professional and assertive manner.

  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • At least 3-5 years of proven experience in credit and collections, specifically in a B2B environment.

  • Strong understanding of billing and financial concepts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with financial software systems.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
