The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a General Supervisor Mine to coordinate and communicate all activities for assigned underground site (including mining, maintenance, milling, and geology) to meet operational goals safely and efficiently. This position is located at our Sweetwater Mine in Ellington, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate mine activities and production to meet short-term operational goals and mill production needs.
  • Train, coach, and manage performance of Mine Supervisors to ensure successful accomplishment of site goals.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Maintenance Department to ensure optimum equipment availability for the mine site.
  • Prepare and utilize reporting to ensure operational goals are being met and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Geology Department to keep working faces moving for maximum ore grade output.
  • Oversee state and federal mine inspections and complete necessary documentation for MSHA inspections. Respond to findings and strive to improve results.
  • Maintain EHS (environmental, health and safety) compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably underground mining.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid, current drivers license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, budgeting (Adaptive), drafting software (AutoCAD), I-series (LIMS, ETMS), (Purchasing) PeopleSoft, Invoicing/Accounts Payable (Dataserv), AS400 or similar software system for stope and drill entries.

  • Advanced ability to adhere to MSHA mine safety regulations.

  • Advanced ability to employ mining best practices and adherence to safe practices and regulations.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use a computer/table, a phone/radio; Frequently required to use a personnel carrier; Rarely required to use powered and non-powered hand tools,
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, required to work underground, exposed to outdoor weather conditions and wet, humid (non-weather) conditions, to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to eyewear, head protection, and footwear. Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. Rarely exposed to extreme hot or cold (n n-weather), Required to work at heights of four feet or more wearing fall protection and hearing protection. May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, talk and hear; occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Rarely required to feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, reach with arms/hands, use repetitive motion with hands/fingers; Requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, ability to distinguish colors, and three-dimensional vision.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 5 pounds, Occasionally required to lift between 6 to 25 pounds, Rarely required to lift up to 26-50 pounds.
