Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Duties Description CARPENTRY: This position requires journey level experience in all aspects of carpentry; to include but not limited to roofing, building rehabilitation & repair, new construction. Candidate must be able to make material lists, obtain quotes and may be required to lay out and lead projects to completion. ELECTRICAL: This position requires basic level experience of electricity and candidate must have ability to make minor repairs and modifications to diagnose and repair pumps, motors, floats and other equipment.PLUMBING: This position requires basic level experience in public water and sewer systems. The duties include but are not limited to seasonal start up and shut down - winterization annually, basic maintenance and repairs of associated, pumps, motors and components of these systems.Additionally, duties will involve other areas of support and maintenance at facilities as directed; some of which will require DEC chainsaw certification to assist with hazardous tree removal.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 60 pounds. This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2025. Program needs and funding willdetermine actual termination date.
