Unilever Material Planner in Chicago, Illinois

Background & Purpose of the Job

With over 100 years of history, Hellmann’s is one of Unilever’s $1B brands with the #1 and 2 top selling SKUs in North America. The Material Planning position is responsible for non-finished goods planning at the Kilbourn factory in Chicago, IL, which has over 100 varieties of mayonnaise that run on 8 production lines. Kilbourn is Unilever’s largest dressing factory and includes two of the highest speed dressing lines globally at 450 bottles per minute. Mayonnaise made at Kilbourn is distributed all over the world, including Japan, South Africa, Tahiti, Israel, Chile, and the Caribbean. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the sourcing of raw and packaging materials into Kilbourn to support the production of finished goods, perform expediting and de-expediting of raw and packaging materials to support the plant production schedule and customer service while optimizing inventory levels. This includes setting up materials in SAP, placing orders for materials, scheduling delivery of necessary volumes as per production forecast, and following through the production cycle to assess risks and minimize losses in materials or time. The main job responsibilities are the following: Evaluate material requirements based on system generated MRP and requisition materials accordingly. Expedite and de-expedite raw and package materials to support and maintain a flexible production schedule while communicating with Business Units and support departments to achieve customer satisfaction. Monitor raw and package inventory to achieve continuous improvement in inventory optimization. Interface with Procurement, Supply Chain Planning, Suppliers, R&D, Logistics.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Undergraduate degree in Logistics, Operations Planning, Engineering or related fields strongly preferred

3 - 4 years of supply chain experience This position is a focal point of the tactical operation of the category. Numerous interfaces with people from a variety of functions requiring good judgment, strong people skills, process understanding and growth mindset

Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail and project management skills Out of hours contact is required for the position for operational issues that may arise

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of SAP ECC, intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
