Work will be concentrated on leading the design team to develop innovative equipment solutions for our multinational client base. Main Role Responsibilities Provide leadership to the Controls Team Co-ordinate and plan work tasks amongst the Controls Team Manage resource and capacity planning for the Controls Team to meet customer and financial goals Take ownership of technical problems and facilitate engineering solutions by directing specialist technical resources Strive to achieve the timely completion of all projects in accordance with agreed-upon customer schedules, while adhering to budget constraints and meeting specified quality standards to maintain excellence Provide guidance on best practice approaches to technical problem solving Foster collaboration & innovation within the engineering teams Line management of the Controls Team Ensure all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities Support team members on customer meetings as required to ensure a successful project Participate in the recruitment process when hiring new members Motivate, coach and develop team members to achieve best possible results Define performance metrics and set individual performance objectives Ensure staff have the necessary skills, competencies, training and tools to perform assigned tasks Facilitate regular 1:1 meetings with all direct reports and conduct annual appraisals Provide support to the commercial team (concepts, estimating) Lead the design of complex machines as required Keep abreast of evolving technology trends in order to understand, identify or anticipate technical issues and opportunities Find and develop unique opportunities to create value for the organisation through strategic thinking Ensure design is compliant to all regulatory, safety and CE requirements Drive continuous improvement activities to support internal and external customers Qualifications: Primary Degree BSc / BEng 8 yrs+ of controls engineering experience 3 yrs+ in a leadership role Key Skills & Attributes: Innovative thinking and creativity in finding solutions to design challenges Strong foundation in electrical & control engineering principles and concepts Experience in industrial robotics, PLC, SCADA, motion control & machine vision Advanced knowledge of equipment design and safety standards Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines and prioritise tasks Proactive and solutions focused with good organizational skills Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and in team settings Excellent technical skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic & results oriented team environment where flexibility is essential Excellent Interpersonal Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Be open minded with the ability to recognize good ideas Demonstrated track record in management and coaching of technical and/or engineering disciplines
