Location: 850 76th Street S.W. - Byron Center, Michigan 49315 Job Description: Position Summary: Leads the Enhanced Category Planning (ECP) and Compelling Offer (Assortment Optimization) programs. Enhanced Category Planning: * Lead annual vendor negotiation process including joint business planning, strategic planning with merchandising teams and coordination with vendors to improve sales and profitability. * Influences across key Directors across merchandising and cross functional groups including Finance, Supply Chain, Retail, and Marketing. * Creates and presents content regularly to merchandising leadership. Compelling Offer: * Aligning with cross-functional leadership teams on intended category changes. * Modeling expected financial and operational impacts. * Overseeing roll-out of category changes to full retail store, wholesale systems and potential to oversee store trials for proposed changes. Here'swhatyou'lldo: * Support ECP and Compelling Offer program development and value delivery, including timeline adherence, and stakeholder management. * Develop data and analytics fact base in partnership with merchandising analytics function and drive into core ways of working for merchandising and associated support teams. * Manage end-to-end negotiations process with vendors through signature of final Preferred Vendor Agreements (PVA's). * Evaluate vendor proposals and provide strategic input throughout negotiations. * Assist with annual vendor engagement training and vendor summit. * Effectively communicates to senior staff on ECP and category management objectives, updates and results. * Performing category assortment reviews using internal and customer-driven data, item-level analytics, and competitor benchmarking. Here'swhatyou'llneed: * Bachelor's Degree (Required) Business Administration, Food Marketing, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. * An overall combined (5) years'experiencein marketing, category management, product management, field sales, store leadership and/or product development experience in retail or wholesale industry. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Strong financial acumen, analytical, influencing and negotiations skills. * Working knowledge of category planning practices. * Experience working across business units to use resources and capabilities to carry out company goals. * Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Nielsen Category Management tools, experience with purchasing systems is a plus. * Project management experience is a plus. * Ability to travel between 15-40% As part of our People First culture, SpartanNash is proud to offer a robust and competitive Total Rewards benefits package.
