Located 16 miles south west of Chicago, Bedford Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 580 at the 2010 census. Bedford Park consists of a small residential area and vast amounts of heavy industry sprawling to the east and a small amount to the west.

The plant was built in 1987, manufactures portion cups lids, coffee lids, and cold cup lids, and has approximately 250 employees.

Responsibilities

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. They maintain close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to achieve product quality, identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements.

  • 12-16 reports from a variety of quality positions

Responsibilities

  • Manages all quality department activities on the shift.

  • Reviews the daily production schedule; adjusts the quality department schedule to ensure quality inspections and reporting are met.

  • Directs the Quality team in fulfilling customer sample requests.

  • Establish and modify work procedures.

  • Oversee and ensure compliance of specs within the production write-ups.

  • Maintain and monitor the company’s Retain program.

  • Oversee the implementation of quality standards, programs, and processes to improve operational efficiencies and reduce/eliminate production waste.

  • Ensures Plant Floor documentation is accurate and followed. Such as ensuring that the production line activity to produce the output is adhered to without error.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking with other department leaders, customers, and suppliers when creating dispositions.

  • Leads investigations of customer complaints and root cause analysis. Reports results internally and to customers.

  • Leads/participates in customer and third party audits.

  • Communicate to Management all out of compliance (OOC) issues found during inspections.

  • Participates in Internal Audit programs as directed.

  • Disposition questionable products on production lines, elevate to plant and quality leadership teams as necessary.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement and ability to make on the spot decisions when resolving employee concerns.

  • Oversees and ensures effective employee training on GMP/SOP’s.

  • Upholds GMP processes and GMP audits.

  • Demonstrates proactive action to avoid quality concerns.

  • Follows all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.

  • Always maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field – Preferred

  • Or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • 3 years’ related experience in contract packaging, light industrial manufacturing, or similar business within consumer manufacturing environment.

  • Specific experience in safety, regulated production/GMP, and quality focused work responsibility.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using critical thinking skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems.

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a leadership role demonstrating effective mentorship and coaching skills to motivate employees and promote positive team building.

  • Working knowledge ofFood Safety.CAPA, FMEA.

  • Working knowledge and application of Quality System policies and procedures.

  • Self-motivated and self-directed initiative to take action, achieve results, think creatively, and work efficiently and competently.

  • Strong mathematical abilities.

  • Exceptional attention to detail in communication, data integrity, timeliness, and accuracy.

  • Ability to address conflict and resolve well.

  • Demonstrates and promotes personal accountability amongst team members.

Technology/Software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Experience with SAP system in a manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Experience with statistical software a plus

Communication:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish – Preferred

  • Able to communicate issues and solutions effectively and efficiently to management and employees.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to lift to 20 pounds.
