Responsibilities

Here are some of the responsabilites you will enjoy preforming as a EH&S Manager:

  • Lead department based on the Safety Vision Statement.

  • Dedicate 50% of daily work time to being on the production floor.

  • Identify problem areas in the department, and set in motion corrective action.

  • Develope risk assesments for changed and new production processes.

  • Maintain and enforce all company policies.

  • Plan the safety program in accordance with Federal OSHA (29 CFR 1910) and implement applicable guidelines for the Aurora, OH location, and conduct and/or monitor applicable training programs.

  • Conduct work-site hazard analysis of operations. Detect hazards involving procedures, equipment and machinery. Investigate all incidents/accidents and initiate appropriate corrective action.

  • Provide the necessary leadership to maintain a safety culture of continuous improvement based on a behavior based system.

  • Direct and administer the Safety Team, Ergonomic Program and Environmental Protection Program.

  • Maintain and administer Worker's Compensation Program.

  • Develop, manage and communicate policies and programs relating to occupational and food packaging safety.

  • Maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information.

  • Participate in new employee orientation.

  • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations governing occupational safety and environmental compliance.

  • Maintain knowledge of product safety related standards.

  • Accompany all third party auditors for food safety related issues.

  • Oversee and maintain Emergency Readiness Response Program

  • Oversee and coordinate Job Safety Analysis Program

  • Oversee and coordinate Contractor Safety Program

  • Oversee and coordinate Visitor Safety Program

  • Maintain all safety and environmental programs, including but not limited to:

  • Arc Flash

  • Electrical Safety

  • Lockout/Tagout

  • Hearing Conservation

  • Ergonomics

  • Personal Protective Equipment

  • Machine Guarding

  • Slip, Trip, and Fall

  • Ladder/Mobile Stair Safety

  • Overhead Crane Safety

  • Hazard Communication

  • Mobile Equipment

  • Confined Space

  • Emergency Action Plan

  • Fire Extinguisher

  • Bloodborne Pathogens

  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention

  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures

  • RCRA and Waste Disposal

  • Oversee and maintain records for OSHA 300 Log, Tier II, all other safety and environmental reporting.

  • Prepare the monthly incident summary reports

  • Maintains monthly compensation expenses.

  • Investigates incidents and property losses.

  • Organize all safety and environmental training.

  • Responsible for approving vacations for all department personnel.

  • Staff department as needed.

  • Performs any other duties established by the Plant Manager.

  • Responsibilities and Authority include assuring compliance with federal, state, government and/or any appropriate regulatory law or guidelines.

  • Managing the GDC system, plant EHS metrics, and reporting to Corporate.

  • Ensuring MOCs (management of change) and NRTHA (non-routine task hazard analysis) documentation and training are completed in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you should have the following:

  • Degree in Environmental Health and Safety related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Five + years of previous EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.

  • Experience in developing and facilitating Safety teams and committees regularly.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to drive involvement in safety activities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to explain the “why” behind our policies and procedures to develop a solid understanding of safety values.

  • Proven leader and motivator.

  • Ability to lead a strong safety initiative through active communication both in person and media.
