Amazon Senior Internal Communications Manager in Arlington, Virginia

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and experienced communications professional to lead internal communications serving Amazon’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion organization, known as Inclusive eXperiences and Technology (IXT). This candidate will manage a team responsible for crafting and disseminating the organization’s narrative on how Amazon is creating inclusive experiences for its employees, customers, and communities.

The individual will provide strategic guidance and manage oversight of internal communication campaigns, messaging, and change management. The candidate should demonstrate a proven and measurable track record of developing corporate narratives from complex subjects and effectively reaching target audiences. This role will involve regular interaction with members of Amazon’s senior leadership team to provide ongoing strategic communications support.

A successful candidate should have leadership skills, experience working with executives, and the ability to work with stakeholders that expect a degree of cultural competency. They should be a strategic thinker, have the ability to flex when needed, and roll up their sleeve to get the job done independently with the same obsessive attention to quality and detail expected of their team.

Key job responsibilities

• Spearhead global internal communications strategies for the Inclusive eXperiences and Technology (IXT) organization. This includes leading a small team of internal communications professionals, setting clear priorities and overseeing the execution of the team’s work (e.g., campaigns around cultural moments, speaker’s bureau, and education on how Amazon is creating inclusive experiences for its employees, customers, and community partners).

• Lead development of messaging narratives and developing content for internal audiences.

• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges.

• Advise on change management communications.

• Regularly meet with leaders in the IXT organization to closely understand the org’s vision, goals, and initiatives.

• Keep current on industry trends, issues, and news, proactively providing related counsel

• Be a trusted, strategic advisor to peers and executives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

  • Experience in a leadership role and as a people manager

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working cross-functionally with partner teams to drive adoption and usage of brand assets and messaging

  • Experience in strategic marketing management and market analysis and demonstrated ability to build and execute a strategy with clear goals and objectives to align to business and service objectives, and support portfolio objectives

  • Knowledge and background on diversity, equity and inclusion topics

  • Portfolio of work demonstrating the ability to tell complex stories in relatable terms

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, anticipate challenges, and develop proactive communication strategies

  • Self-motivated individual requiring minimal direction

  • Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Ability to think strategically and implement ideas from ideation to measurement/evaluation

  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
