United States Steel Crane Maintenance and Coil Transportation Supervisor, BRS in Arkansas

Objective of the Job:

The Crane Maintenance and Coil Transportation Supervisor ensures policies, procedures, and all activities are carried out to support BR2 goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements; follow BRS directives and comply with regulatory requirements within scope of responsibility.

2) Lead by example for creating a safe work environment.

3) Ensure all jobs are covered with documented trained personnel on their assigned shifts; coordinate Crane Maintenance and Coil Transportation Maintenance activities to support crane and transportation uptime and safe use of equipment.

4) Plan, organize, and coordinate all required activities relating to cranes and coil transportation systems.

5) Maintain records of maintenance as required and the use of GuideTi for all maintenance activities.

6) Identify and recommend solutions concerning improvement of processes and resolving personnel issues. Participate in the establishment and implementation of work and safety protocols.

7) Develop and coordinate the preparation and maintenance of cost effectiveness studies and programs and preparing departmental budgets.

Qualifications:

1) Strong leadership and personnel management skills.

2) Good insight to team dynamics and a positive problem solver; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively engage and interact with a wide range of audiences (both written and oral).

3) Ability to demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times and hold employees accountable for the same.

4) Strong technical knowledge of crane safety, overhead cranes, electrical and mechanical systems to support cranes, PLC programming and production systems to support proper operation and troubleshooting techniques.

5) Strong understanding of safety requirements surrounding BR2 facilities compliance.

6) Strong understanding and knowledge of financial management and capital investments strategies.

7) Bachelor’s degree in engineering/related discipline OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

8) Previous related experience in crane maintenance, start-up, and/or crane operation preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This position works in areas across the mill and throughout the facility, which are routinely extreme environments with typical hours during the day but this position, can result I working weekends, holidays and at night to support BRS goals. Ability to work long hours as well as coming in on short notice.
