The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.

This strategic role leads Electronics category sourcing and procurement. Working closely with our R&D, Operations Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain teams this position sets the strategy across all electronics used in our Abbott Diabetes Care products. You will build a team to support these initiatives to service global product needs. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Influences the business unit strategy and translates business strategy for category and aligned category strategy to programs and projects.

  • Champion change and innovation. Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas. Supports those who initiate change and take calculated risks.

  • Promotes a Global Perspective. Assists in defining category procurement strategy for Abbott, align with overall strategy and be an enabler.

  • Drives Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category through analytics. Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline.

  • Coordinate across corporate, functions, divisions to share best practices and adherence to guidelines.

  • Ability to assess the overall needs of the Business, negotiate a portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.

  • Measure and track internal performance for Abbott users. Advise business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by companies.

  • Lead initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures. Influence and partner with business leaders (Director, Sr. Director, and DVP level) to manage and align the category.

  • Set direction on standards, identifying points of supply, developing, executing, and managing a global strategy and initiatives for all divisions and sites to improve Procurement's overall and ultimate value.

  • Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments to ensure timely delivery of agreed services; Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies.

  • Own and implement agreed purchasing strategies for the category. Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.

  • Manage category projects across the division. Lead business projects based on category expertise. Lead project teams responsible for development & execution of category strategy.

  • Responsible for people leadership. Recruit, mentor, train and develop talent. Address people issues in a constructive and timely manner. Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:

  • Bachelors’ Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience, such as Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing/Procurement.

  • 7-10 year track record within procurement and supply chain management Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable.

  • 7-10 years of Procurement and/or deep Category experience, Supplier management.

  • Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.

  • International experience Deep knowledge of markets by regions.

  • Experience with Supplier management.

  • Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.

  • Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management.

  • Extensive knowledge of category technologies and products. Strong influence and negotiating skills.

  • Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years of financial reporting experience; cost tracking and cost management

  • 7-10 years of Electronics Category experience, Supplier management.

  • Proficiency in PC applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations).

  • Financial acumen

  • Ability to think creatively

  • Ability to build and sustain trusting relationships internally and externally

  • Effective skills to productively interface with all levels of the Business.

  • Knowledge of the electronics manufacturing process, the electronics industry and key manufacturers.

  • Extensive knowledge of the semiconductor industry and supply chain, including wafer foundries, bumping, packaging, assembly, and testing houses

  • Demonstrated Program / Project Management governance.

  • Strong communication, persuasion, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect cross-functional project teams.

The base pay for this position is $144,100.00 – $288,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
